Made an appointment w/AAMCO. Filled out paperwork and spoke directly with Memo. He provided me with paperwork and an estimated time of completion of repair to my 2008 Honda Fit Sport. Overall, Memo delivered good customer service. Drove my car to work and it handled well with no issues. Very satisfied with the work AAMCO performed.
This particular AAMCO was the cleanest and most organized I've been to. With a AAMCO lifetime warranty on my car since 1988, the warranty requires a 'free' inspection each year to remain valid so I've been to many all over the country in the following years getting this requirement done wherever I was. They have a neat very clean waiting area with coffee. Restroom is likewise spotless which really helps. Service was very friendly.
I needed a break service on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler JK so i sent a message through Yelp and the first response within a few minutes was from AAMCOs owner. He offered me to bring in my car for a free inspection as early as Monday at 830am. I scheduled the appointment and was greeted by "Memo" at the shop, he was very nice and had great customer service. I stayed for a bit at the shop, it was clean, staff was friendly, they had coffee and left while my car was getting serviced. A few minutes passed and "Memo" called with a quote on what my car needed, they replaced my breaks all around at an affordable price and also let me know my car needed new break lines and a replacement of the rear shocks. Got a quote for the shocks but definitely replaced my breaks all around. I recommend AAMCO for all car services they offer and my warranty is squeak free! Thank you!

Great service and they stand behind their warranty. Abot 1 year after replacing my transmission, it failed again (car model prone to transmission failure) and was promptly repaired by AAMCO.
Memo talked rough numbers with me over the phone and I brought the car in (towed) the same day. Work was completed by noon the next day. Memo was great to work with and the electronic communications via text were flawless!

Memo was super communicative and honest. I originally came in for some weird feelings in my second gear. Memo told me he had a few techs test the car and said it was most likely just due to my transmission fluids combined with the cold weather and that other than that my transmission was in great shape. I was super happy with the experience and honesty!
I went in for a checkup on my transmission to AAMCO in Chula Vista and it was free to check car to make sure it had fluid. Me being a senior citizen and a woman by herself I was treated with respect and kindness and Memo explained everything to me where I could understand completely what to do next checkup which I appreciate that AAMCO has been a company that has been around for years that should tell you their company name speaks for itself. I had recently had problems w my Honda Ridgeline truck & went to my usual mechanic who recommended replacement of the transmission for $3K used or $7k new! I looked online for causes of my issue (Blinking Drive light) and slipping. I decided to have AAMCO diagnose & they were able to replace a gear sensor for less than $700! Talk about a savings. The manager "Memo" even gave me an additional military discount & my truck runs great!

I had my 2016 Jeep Patriot towed there because my CVT transmission went out. Memo explained the the process of what they would need to in order to diagnose to the problem. Once they had transmission apart and found out what needed to rebuilt I was given the full estimate. The repair to a little longer than expected but it was not by fault of theirs the CVT transmission was touchy to reprogram. In the end my Jeep is running great again and the cost was right at what it was suppose to be.

I had the best experience at AAMCO Chula Vista. My vehicle had a transmission cooler line leak and figured it would be down for a couple of weeks. I recently had my transmission rebuilt by a different AAMCO in another state. I paid quite a lot of money and bought the full warranty. The experience was very poor and I wasn't happy with the results, but I didn't have much I could do. After moving to CA shortly after, the transmission began developing problems. I needed to get the vehicle serviced, but other AAMCO's by me weren't interested in servicing another shop's warranty. They didn't flat out say 'no" but no one would take it..
Memo in CV however, took on my case. It took a while to get to the cause of my issue (it was a bad low gear sprag that caused the vehicle to dangerously lose its drive function at low speeds, like when crossing an intersection). And while the other shop should have provided the parts necessary when asked during Memo's warranty work, they didn't, but Memo carried on and eventually got me back up and running so I could take my family to school again.
The work was significant. The warranty covered me 100% and though it took some time to sort out, I didn't have to pay a dime out of pocket which was important to me at the time.
I really appreciate what Memo and team were able to do for me. So far the trans has been running well, and I have peace of mind that my car will continue to be covered for the remainder of my warranty.
Discussed the issues with my Toyota truck. Thought it would cost more than what was priced. Truck drives great. Just have to break in the new clutch.

Memo and the guys at AAMCO fixed the transmission on my Mazda 3 after the dealer failed to fix it after 2 attempts. Not only did AAMCO fix it but they found the cause of the failure which seemed to elude the "experts" at the dealership.

First Class facility! I have called this shop 6-8 times and the manager, Memo, has always been amazing with discussing potential problems, scheduling a free estimate, and following through with a breakdown of issues and costs. I was advised against doing a service to focus on a bigger issue BUT will for sure go back even if it's at a higher price to get a better service with people I like! This shop is a great place to bring any vehicle, old or new. Their work is thorough, and service time was efficient. It was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders to find a place like this. I do not like dealership maintenance departments. This is the kind of place you can rely on to fix your vehicle problems, or just get a service like an oil change for reasonable prices.
Had my compressor replaced and AC charged in a timely manner at a very reasonable price. Also, great customer service provided by Memo. I recommend getting a quote from this place first.

Today, 2/6/23, was my second visit to AMMCO Chula Vista and just like the first time I am a satisfied customer. I went to have some Brembo brakes and Brake pads installed that I had purchased directly from the Brembo Store. I was received by Memo at the front desk and was impressed by not only his professionalism, but good humor. He prepared my quote instantly and the price quoted me was almost one half of what the Buick dealership quoted me. At no time did Memo try to upsell me something I was not interested in.
I made an appointment, brought my car in at 8am today. Memo called me 3 hours later and said the car was finished. Wow !!. He also mentioned that my oil looked a little black and asked if I would like them to change it. Thanks Memo...that was something that I forgot to mention to you in the morning when I brought the car in. Good Catch !!.
Anyway, the work was finished earlier than expected and upon inspecting everything when I arrived home there was no doubt in my mind that the installation was done correctly.

Great experience here. Even with a staff turnover from Joe to Memo, information didn't get dropped and truck got fixed in a timely manner. They had to repair a P0715 code for my 2015 F150. Soon as the part came in, it was fixed in the same day. Memo communicated well and had great customer service. Definitely will go to this place again.

Great service here, I had some transmission issues that no other shop would even dare take a look at as I was told I'd be better off buying another car. I was about to go that route but I brought it to AAMCO and they inspected it and let me know what was wrong completely free of charge. They then communicated with me exactly what the issue was and ended up just needing to get a small part replaced all for around $140 total! Really honest and helpful staff!

My AC had stopped working, had contacted multiple repair shops prior, but they all said they didn't have the tools to work with the new refrigerant. Before I begin I don't usually leave reviews but in this case my clutch had took a crap on me & was in some desperate need of a replacement. I had looked AAMCO up online & they had multiple great reviews so I said "What they hey, what's the worst that can happen, if its out of my budget I can look elsewhere." I proceeded to call, & Joe was the one to answer, I had asked the estimate of a clutch replacement & he had told me it depends on the year, make & model. Fair enough, so i agreed. Joe had told me to come @ 11:30am, I later called & said: I wouldn't be able to make that time & had asked if i can come around 3ish. No hesitation (BIG PLUS which i may add) he said yeah that's fine no worries. Once arrived again I was greeted w/ Joe & he was very professional as well kind while asking what I would need. This was on a WED & Joe had said it will be done FRI. Not only did his team get it done on the scheduled time BUT he also got me a better deal! I was already stuck in mind to pay top dollar knowing clutch replacements aren't cheap! I would like to thank Joe & his team for such an easy process NO BS, & straight to the point service! I had to take a emergency road trip driving through 3 of thee hottest states and no AC wasn't happening. I called Ron 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning and even with his day completely booked he said if u can be here in 15mins I can get it in. I was the 1st car in the shop and on my way within a few hrs. My AC has never been so cold.

Check engine light came on during a road trip. Initial analysis using Blue Driver plug-in showed two transmission error codes. Preliminary AAMCO check determined torque converter problem. Check-in was easy and direct (Joe). Replacement parts took several days. The car runs noticeably better. Will take it on another road trip shortly. Thanks, AAMCO!
AAMCO figured out immediately that my transmission was fine, but my Catalytic converter was shot. My car was repaired quickly and I was made aware of all charges ahead of time. No surprises. Plus I was offered several financing options, which fortunately I did not need, but was a nice possible alternative.
Joe and Ron are great! I came in to fix a problem with my fuel system. They fixed it but a few weeks later there was another problem. I came back in and they repaired it again at no extra cost! I had a great conversation with Joe last time I was here. He's an awesome guy!

Reliable. Prompt. Straight-forward. This team is great. I came in because my car was making noises and check engine light had come on indicating "cylinder misfire." Now, six months ago i had supposedly gotten the exact same issue fixed by a different mechanic and did a "tune up." Since the say i drove out the lot the car was not the same. Noise, screeching sound when AC was on, sometime even when off. Anyway, i ended up wondering wether anything had been fixed at all after paying a large sum of money. I never went back due to mistrust. Well... now that the light came back on i decided to go to the guys at AAMCO. Wonderful decision! Ron was very attentive and responsive while i set up my appointment and Joe was absolutely wonderful when i dropped off the car. He made sure i knew what the issue was and promised to resolve it. I drove my 2008 Jeep Patriot from Arizona to a relatives home in Chula Vista, knowing something regarding transmission needed work since the dash light had intermittently appeared. An assessment was to be done and I would learn by phone what the recommendation would be. Knowing I was working with a short window of working days to get back on the road, Joe found a refurbished transmission and had the old transmission removed. I felt backed into a corner as clear, written agreements were lacking. Ron, the owner became involved and proved the needed taped conversations for clarity. In the end, I believe this business to be fair and ethical. I suggested the experience be used as an opportunity for improved written consent. I also realize I played a part in the confusion and accepted the incident as an opportunity to remember documentation. I was able to return to Arizona and have a good 10 day follow up.

I have an Audi Q5. Usually I have to bring it to a specialist. I thought I might have a transmission problem and wanted to try a local place. This Aamco had some Really Good reviews. I figured they should know transmissions even for a German car. Not only did they do a Fantastic job but it wasn’t the transmission…it was the brakes. Much Cheaper!! Customer service was excellent. Everything they said they would do…they did. A complete diagnosis which was extremely thorough. I had the opportunity to talk to Joe for awhile. He Really knows cars and what he’s talking about. He even looked up reviews on some of the parts we were using to see which method was best. …and most economical. Needless to say I was impressed. I don’t plan on taking my car to La Jolla anymore. I’ll just go here.

He sounded competent to me, so I decided to go with him. I'm a roofing company, so getting back on the road quickly was very important to me. Joe checked it out, said I needed a complete rebuild. I gave my approval, and had my truck back in 3 days. I had a slight problem with vibration, called Joe about it, brought it in to have it checked. Turned out to be just a slight alignment problem with a clamp, was back on the road in 20 minutes. Truck is working great, no problems at all. In all, the price was fair, with a good warranty, service was excellent, and I am a happy customer and would not hesitate to refer anyone to them.

I took my 2012 Jeep Cherokee in for a leak in the transfer casing. I had nothing but great service! Haven't seen any leaks since then. Overall I was impressed by how quick AAMCO was able to complete the job after going through two dealerships and another auto shop prior to. Everything was great!

Saved me from spending 1,500 more at the dealership. I first called for advice to get a better understanding about my clutch and manual transmission and if letting the dealership add (needed) services to the truck was a bad idea or not. Not only did they tell me it was a horrible idea, but they can do the vehicle inspection and clutch replacement at a flat rate and now my truck feels brand new again. Car had a bad clutch that I had been riding for a while. When I took it into the shop, they were able to diagnose it within an hour even though I didn't have an appointment. I had done my research on what the price for replacing a clutch on my age of vehicle should be, and Ron's quoted price actually came in a little under that. They got it done in a few days and it felt as good as new.
One forgotten thing is that this shop is incredibly convenient since its very close to a 712 bus stop, and only about 1/3 of a mile from the blue line trolley, so getting to and from the auto shop without a car was a lot easier than I have experienced in the past.

I wanted to write AAMCO a review because these days, I don't have a lot of trust in this industry unfortunately. That said, when I feel I've come across an honest, reasonable, and competent car repair shop, I feel compelled to tell others why I was more than satisfied with their customer service and work they completed. Our minivan's A/C wouldn't work when the outside temperature was above 80°, but felt adequate whenever it was under 80°. I spoke to Ron (owner) via Yelp messaging when inquiring for service, Joe (Service Mgr) who booked our appt, and Ian, whom we checked our vehicle in with. All were professional, empathized with our problem & told us they'd get it back in operation. Our A/C was repaired in less than a 1/2 day! It was diagnosed & repaired w/ us only paying for their routine A/C service fee. Our seals in the service ports were 16 yrs old and the cause of a small leak in the closed system, and our Freon refrigerant was at 50% of what it should've been. All in all, we paid the A/C service diagnostic fee minus 10% since I had redeemed my Yelp check-in discount upon dropping off our vehicle. Our A/C is operating like it's brand new again! Great job AAMCO! And here I only thought you worked on transmissions...

Very positive experience! Had my BMW 435 break down and brought it to AAMCO as it was a listed under my warranty’s recommended service provider.
It turned out to to be a fuel pump failure in addition to gummed up intake and fuel injectors.
The mechanics were very professional and did everything they could to get my warranty company ( who are very difficult to work with from what I recently learned) to cover the cost of the repair. Ultimately the warranty company didn’t cover the repair, however I really appreciated AAMCO’s efforts regardless!
I’ll be back again next time I have a maintenance issue.

This April (2021) I traveled to Chula Vista from Phoenix for a visit with my niece.

I needed my transmission checked out super last minute, and these guys were able to run a diagnostic and pinpoint were my leak was coming from. They saved me a ton of money, when other places either ignored me or just assumed the worse for my transmission. 10/10 coming to this location again.
I took my car to another place that charged me 100 dollars to "diagnose" my check engine light, and then they told me they couldn't fix it. AAMCO diagnosed the problem quickly, with no charge and advised me that they didn't feel any repair was needed at this time. They were professional and had good customer service.
A suspected transmission problem turned out to be something else. The technicians at AAMCO recommended services which resulted in a real change to the feel of the steering, something that another mechanic had overlooked. I will be returning to them in the future.

I was experiencing a transmission fluid leak. The initial inspection was performed quickly and I received the results a few hours later. The problem was explained to me thoroughly. I was provided a cost estimate that was reasonable considering the amount of labor necessary. The vehicle repair was completed on time and within the cost estimate. Everyone seemed friendly and professional. I had a positive experience at this shop and have no reservations recommending them. I will return for future repairs.

Service was great and very friendly. I didn’t have a ride so I stayed in the shop and waited. Joe was very friendly and joked around with my kid. That was nice since I understand most business don’t appreciate you bringing your child to wait a couple hours in their shop and disrupting business. Last minute I asked for an oil change. I was in town for a few weeks working. I was in search for I shop to perform my 30,000 mile maintenance for my Lexus RC 350. What I can say about this fine establishment is, they were reasonably quick and thorough, very friendly and down to earth, and they did not try to up charge me because I drive an "expensive car". I was accurately quoted before I came in and when I left, I ended up paying significantly less than what I would have at the Lexus dealership. It's a glorified Toyota for heaven sake. Thanks guys!!

I have a 2014 Ford Mustang GT that I love and they took the best of care with her! My car wasn't idling right, my check engine light came on and my car wasn't performing as it should. I called them and asked if they had any last minute available appointments and they told me to come right in. They we're quick to figure out the problem and quick with their service as well! Last minute appointment and got my car back within a couple hours! The staff was awesome, the service was terrific and I have my car performing even better than before. Definitely going back for anymore future service needed. I highly recommend this team at this AAMCO!

Perfect is the best way to describe these guys, this place, and the manner in which they handle their business. They have no hidden agenda like so many other mechanics do where they try to sell you useless junk your car doesn't need. Dealership "diagnosed" my truck with a failed torque converter and wanted to charge for a transmission replacement totaling more than 6000 dollars. This awesome group of guys determined that was a lie in about an hour and fixed the actual issue while also providing me with education on component structure and functions to stay away from businesses trying to steal from me. Overall the most incredible experience I have ever had with any mechanic shop anywhere. Will for sure be coming back for anything my car will ever need to this spot and this spot only.
Went in for maintenance on my transmission and an oil change to. Spoke to a gentleman by the name of joe. He said he'll check out the transmission before working on it. Then he'll let me know what exactly needs to be done and he'll call me before doing the work on transmission. Also he'll go ahead and change the oil first. Five stars for customer service, cleanliness of the sho and professionalism.
Come in to AAMCO 11/24/2020 I needed to have my transmission looked at and serviced. While I that going on I might as well have my oil changed too. Joe helped me out and let me know what he found. I authorized them to fix the problems. And a couple days later the job was done. I left a satisfied customer, thanks joe and staff.
Made an appointment over the phone for a CVT transmission fluid change on my Nissan Sentra. They did not sugarcoat the status of my transmission. I went 35,000 past the recommended change interval of 60,000 miles. I paid using my Synchrony credit card. All paperwork was printed and easy process to receive my vehicle back.
I scheduled an appointment with them for a transmission bench rebuild for one of my own customers. Dropped off the transmission and it was rebuilt and they got it done in about a day and a half and the price ended up being just about what they estimated as well. Installed the transmission and test drove the vehicle for a long trip and had zero issues, no leaks, and it shifts smooth in and out of all gears. Joe was very professional and I will be using them in the future!

I have been meaning to post this, this review is long over due. My experience was amazing! My check engine light came on, the code said it was a transmission issue. I came to AAMCO with all the stress in the world weighing on my shoulders but Justice helped me out a lot, helping me with the best advice. Asking the technicians what was the best route for me to go. In the end I had to get my transmission replaced. Brooks called me, I told him my situation and he looked up the best quotes for me and got me a great deal and a good warranty. I was approved for financing was able to get my car back and back on the road. I am so happy and appreciate all the help that was given to me. When I got my car back I cried tears of joy on my way home. I was so scared that I wasn't going to be able to afford to fix my car. Having 3 kids and work I depend on my car very much. I was pleased with the prompt service I received from AAMCO. I went in for an oil change and multi-point inspection on a 2008 Mustang with less than 40,000 miles. I was happy that the car is in good shape and didn't require any additional services. This AAMCO location is our new place for car care.

Even though the staff was short one man the service was responsive and polite. Our transmission catastrophe was a Nissan CVT in a 2012 Sentra, that is a problem plagued product that Nissan will not warranty. All quotes equaled the blue book value of the car. Our bad options were buy another car or replace transmission, we chose trans. AAMCO Chula Vista helped to reduce the cost and Ron T conferred with me every day of the Labor Day weekend. 5 star service, thank you.
I finally completed my 500 mile break in for my new Nitro 5.29 re-gear. I brought my rig in for a differential oil change. The staff were professionals and listened to my specific needs. Great place and very professional. Dealing with mechanics and shops is not always fun as you can't pin point which will be the honest ones. I went solely on their reviews and although I am in Lemon Grove I decided to bring my 93 Caprice wagon to get the AC fixed. Communication was great Ron responded to all my questions immediately via yelp message so I said I am in! I was told to speak to Justice the manager and I felt very confident after he explained to me the process. Not only did they fixed my old AC system they also retro fitted it to take the new R134. My wagon was ready the following day and blowing COLD air! Super awesome. Since I have been working on this wagon I never checked the AC system but I knew the blower was not working and it would take some knowledge and time to get it right. They don't call to give updates all the time but that doesn't matter because the actual service/work being done more than makes up for that. Very professional. Transmission work is pricey no matter where you go but here it's worth the money and it gets taken care of relatively quickly.

I am really impressed with AAMCO. I was recommended AAMCO as a transmission specialist by my general mechanic because he was under the impression I needed a new transmission. I showed up pretty nervous and not totally sure I was ready to put out $3,000 for a new transmission. I spoke primarily to Justice and he explained that they would do a free diagnostic and not being work until they'd discussed it with me. This seems like a pretty standard auto body behavior but I haven't had a mechanic experience this clear cut in years. When they called to inform me of the damage it turned out to be spark plugs so that was probably my one free pass in 2020! Thank you again AAMCO for being reliable and professional!

Made my appointment online. (You should allow a business day for confirmation of your appointment.) When I arrived for my appointment the service manager, Justice, listened to my concerns and explained that an initial evaluation of the vehicle would check all of the things I mentioned and more. So we decided to do the initial evaluation and an oil and filter change then talk about what the evaluation turned up. At that point I went away to shop until Justice called to give me a report. About two hours later Justice called to tell me the van was ready to pick up. The mechanic had found and fixed a minor problem in the shift mechanism, but everything else was fine. He did the oil change as requested. The entire visit took about four hours. I felt that Justice was very professional and knowledgeable and the mechanic was efficient. All in all, I was very satisfied with my experience and I will be returning to this AAMCO in the future.

Father's Day came early this year for this Army Vet when my beautiful wife and kids had a Ford Raptor delivered to the house. I really liked the service I received at Aamco. Jeff took the time to research and give me the cost of getting my alternator fixed when shopping for estimates. He was also kind enough to take my car in at the last minute when alternator broke the following day. I had mentioned the previous day that I didn’t want to bring my car in the following day since it was my birthday, but unfortunately I had no choice when my car stopped due to the alternator on the morning of my birthday. However I told him I needed to get my car running again but I needed to have my car back by 1pm cause I had Birthday plans. He told me to bring it in and that he’d have it done by 10:30am. I brought it in to the shop and it was ready by 9:30am. Great customer service from Jeff and his team. I’ll definitely be using their services again and will be recommending their shop.

I found this shop on Yelp after making calls and comparing rates with other shops in town. I needed to get my rear brakes and a belt replaced. I got a quote over Yelp from the shop and it was more than fair then the competition and they squeezed me in a few days later. After a few hours waiting my vehicle has new brakes and a belt and is running nicely. I saved myself a good amount of money (which Firestone quoted me significantly more and they were the ones who found the issues). This shop seemed honest in the fact they confirmed Firestone's diagnosis and even said I could have held off on the brakes for a bit (I decided to get them done anyway since it was passed the so called safe zone). I'd definitely come back again for any other problems I'd need fixed. They even have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty for their work.

I originally inquired online about an A/C service and was quoted a fair price. When I went to take it in, they did their best to get my car into the rotation as I had to wait for my car. Jeff and team were good at setting my expectations and provided an estimate at no cost. I wasn't able to complete the service the same day, so I came back the following week once the part came in. Prices were fair to replace an A/C pressure switch and do a recharge. My A/C has been working properly ever since. Thanks guys!

Made an appointment for early morning after seeing all the great reviews. I had just bought my used Benz and the tranny was definitely acting funny. The last place I took it was a "Benz specialist" and they let me drive it after quoting me a ridiculous amount of money for tranny repair. Little did I know that it barely had any tranny fluid, I was aware of a leaky connector that these cars are notorious for. I came here and was not dissapointed, They flushed it, filled it, replaced the connector & also found a leaky gasket.
Maybe they're not the friendliest of folks (there was some review that had mentioned that) I had a great experience & they are by far the most honest and their price was unbeatable.
I will be taking all my cars here from now on.

I know enough about cars to do most things, but as a busy family man I don't have time to do my own work anymore. So, I came here I fully expecting for them to attempt to take me to the cleaners and claim that simple maintenance would unreasonably expensive because of something made up, or that everything would take much longer than needed. I talked to Ian. He was honest and straightforward. They fixed everything and they did notice a problem with a break line which I had previously noticed but failed to mention. They only charged me $70 for something everyone else said would be 200 and they had it done quickly! A+ experience
I brought my Audi A4 in for a fee initial diagnostic of what I thought was a transmission problem. They were quick and efficient with the diagnostic and it turned out it was something completely different, but they were able to handle that repair and gave me a good quote. A couple of hours later and it was good to go. It's been driving great since then - thanks guys!
I received a quote for service in a very timely manner! It was detailed and I felt very comfortable taking my vehicle there...without my husband or my dad. I say this because taking my vehicle any place for service gives me anxiety. In the past, I have fell victim to price gouging, and I believe it was because I know nothing about cars and repair-and previous shops can smell that on me. This has honestly been the first place I felt totally comfortable with, but that didn't stop me from forwarding my correspondence with the owner to my husband for a double check and the "go-ahead" for service. When I got there -with my 11 year old son in tow for added testosterone (not much but whatever)- I was helped by a very nice man,(Brandon?)who also provided us a ride home. I also noticed that there were several other customers there with lots of questions. The man that worked there, (Brandon?)was very friendly and thorough with everyone. He was efficient, courteous, and unlike other places I have been to, he didn't seem rushed or like he was rushing customers out the door. I had been taking our vehicles to the same place for the past 6 years and finally got out of my comfort zone and glad we did. This is our new go to place for our vehicles.

was having a vibrating noise coming from under my nissan xterra so i took it to AAMCO in Chula Vista and they asked one of their techs to ride with me to check the noise and after had the suv lifted to inspect further without having to make commitment to repair it,and found the problem was 2 bad U-joints on the drive shaft,gave me a quote to fix that seemed very reasonable,they even showed me the problem under the suv and said they would have it ready in 3 hours and i was happy to learn they finished before that and under the quoted price; the whole staff was super friendly and informative;i have finally found the place to take my truck for service instead of Nissan dealer.
Went in to fix a transfer case linkage issue on my Jeep. I brought the parts and asked how much to fix. They gave me a reasonable price and I said ok. Later that day I found out the parts I gave them did not work and they had already spent most of the day with them. The order new parts and the car was ready the next day. I was pleased to see they honored the original labor cost estimate, and even though I paid a bit extra for the parts, the overall experience was excellent. I will continue to come in and have my Jeep service here.

My first visit was a few months ago when I came in to get a 2nd opinion on the replacement of my transmission. They quickly got me in and the mechanic wanted to take me on a ride to show me that they found nothing wrong with the transmission. This saved me so much money and I decided to come back for my regular service. I called, got an appointment right away and had my service done. I was very happy with the service and highly recommend this shop.
About 2-3 weeks before Thanksgiving (2017), I noticed a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment of my 2012 Dodge Caravan. I knew it could be one of two things: either a rod bearing knock or an issue with lifters that this particular engine experiences. I called several (close to 10) shops in town for quotes and every single one of them said they couldn't provide me with any info until I came in with the van which I totally get if I wasn't knowledgeable about cars or if I hadn't already received an inspection from an independent mechanic.
In any case, one of the last shops I got in touch with was Aamco. I spoke with Brandon who had seen and heard about the exact issues I described in similar Doge Caravans/Chrysler T&C's and informed me that he was 99% confident that it was indeed one of those two issues and provided me with rough estimates for repairing or replacing the engine.
Long story short, the engine had a rod bearing knock and had to be replaced. Although paying for a replacement engine sucks, Brandon kept me in the loop during the entire process and even helped my family out with a discount on a rental car (since replacing an engine can take some time). Thanks to Brandon and his crew, my family was able to make our out-of-town trip happen over Thanksgiving.
I would highly recommend this shop for any issues you may be having with your car's engine.

Brandon and the awesome team at AAMCO has now bailed me out twice! My first experience with them was for an oil change, but on inspection they found that my front sway bar had come loose as well. Definitely not safe to drive around on! They solved the problem quickly and painlessly and I was on my merry way! Now my car is back in after I came out of work to find some sort of mystery fluid leaking out from underneath it... Brandon was my hero again! Even though it was closing time, he talked me through how to get my car to the shop while avoiding damage and now the team is fixing my baby. I seriously wouldn't take my car anywhere else!!!
Brought my Lancer in because the engine was bucking at stops and was idling at close to 3000rpms. Was helped by Ian at the front desk and they quickly found a small piece of plastic lodged in the idle air control valve. Fixed just like that. I will definitely be bringing my car back in the future and highly recommend their services.

Went here just to get a quote because my transmission wasn't shifting into gear properly after a botched transmission replacement from a different shop. My husbands and my first time here and I immediately felt comfortable and like my car was in good hands. These people have great knowledge and they are honest. You won't get anything done you don't absolutely need. The place is clean and everyone is friendly. Tom was super nice and a little bit of a comedian =) He was also very helpful over the phone when initially setting up the appointment. They took my car out for a test drive and quickly zeroed in on what was causing the sound I came in for. There's a clean comfortable waiting area with a Keurig and a few choices of coffee and real creamer & sugar. Plus a mini fridge with bottled water. Clean private bathroom too. I drive a turbo Subaru which, due to its role as a sports car driven as it should be, requires quite a bit more attention and maintenance than most cars.
I don't have the space or time to do my own work on the car, and have had difficulty finding a shop that won't lie to upsell unnecessary stuff, or didn't have the knowledge or equipment to properly diagnose an issue, or who had broken something while fixing something else and attempted to cover it up, overfilled fluids, stripped lug nuts, or spilled oil all over the engine bay.
I was referred here by a friend who knows how touchy I can be with my car. Not only do they have a tech nerd who loves Subarus and instinctively knew about the specific oil filter needed on these engines, he addressed a couple other concerns I had with the car in a friendly and educational way.
Great experience all around. I'll be bringing my car here from now on.
I was referred to this AAMCO by my brother because of his trust and praise of Dan and Ian. I initially came in last year just to have my CRV checked out and to ensure it's overall safety for my trips to and from oakland. From talking on the phone with Tom, to meeting (and chatting with) Dan, and eventually having my car fixed, it was by far the best experience I've ever had with mechanics. As a female, I am slightly hesitant to deal with car problems or going into shops because of past experiences, but this AAMCO is truly a place of kind and honest people. In a more recent experience here, I brought in my Toyota 4Runner to get checked over and fixed (after buying it used) and they gave me fair prices, didn't try to fix things that didn't need to be fixed, and made suggestions for what to look for and be concerned about in the future. Dan, Ian, and Tom have all helped me feel comfortable taking my car into a shop knowing the work will be done well and won't empty my bank account. They also have a fridge full of cold bottled water in the lobby which is really like the cherry on top. I still think Tom needs some music to listen to while he works. Thanks for everything guys!!

I'm from Connecticut, have lived all over being in the military, and proud to say this is the most professional, reasonable, and honest garage I've been to. I brought my mother here because she received a Check Engine light indicating a Transmission Failure. We had called 15 minutes before they close for the day but they were nice enough to wait for us.
It was a little hard to locate it at first because it's inside the complex but the office is very new and clean. The staff is friendly as well, they ran a diagnostic test and then they advised us to go to the dealer. The manager gave us the proper information and codes to take to the dealership since the problem was caused by an outstanding recall.
If you are looking for a trustworthy repair place, you should come check this place out. You may pay a little bit more than a mom or pop shop but you are paying for quality service and honest employees.

Came into AAMCO to get some suspension work done the other day. Was greeted with a big smile and explained what would be fixed, roughly how long, and the price for the job. I brought my 2008 Toyota Matrix to Aamco for routine service after many years of using Toyota for service, and I must say I was impressed by the personal level of service shown by Dan and his crew. I was greeted immediately, (no wait), and they spent a lot of time looking over my past records to see what has been done and what may be needed. After a lunch break, my car was ready, and the service was clearly thorough, as a number of needs were attended to, ie... tire rotation, without my calling it to their attention. I feel very confident they checked all the boxes and topped all the fluids and most importantly, the bill was very reasonable. Nice to have personalized service that is so lacking these days. I will be back!
